Trauma

  • Has your teen experienced a traumatic event such as a car accident, a difficult medical procedure or an assault?
  • Does your teen seem to be hypervigilant in situations where it isn’t warranted?
  • Does your teen have frequent nightmares?
  • Was your teen bullied severely in school?
  • Does your teen go out of their way to avoid situations that bring back bad memories?

Teen Trauma Treatment

If you answer yes to any of these questions, your teen may be suffering from a trauma. Traumas don’t always mean fighting in a war, or having a natural disaster. Traumas for teens can include bullying, difficult medical procedures, assaults, or anything so difficult that your teen faced that left them with a negative belief about themselves due to the event.

At Campbell Teen & Family Therapy, Inc. we are experts in teen trauma. Many of our staff are trained in EMDR (Eye movement desensitization & reprocessing). Which is one of the most effective treatments for trauma. We also use trauma informed CBT and talk therapy to help process these difficult memories.

If your teen has suffered for years from anxiety or distressing memories, nightmares, insomnia, abuse or other traumatic events, they can now gain relief.

Research shows that EMDR is rapid, safe and effective. EMDR does not involve the use of drugs or hypnosis. It is a simple, non-invasive patient-therapist collaboration in which healing can happen effectively. This powerful technique is highly effective for treating trauma.  Many patients who have made slow progress in the past, or who have not benefited from more traditional therapies say that with EMDR they have finally found something that works for them.
