Josi is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist #122755, working under the supervision of Ingrid Higgins, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #42950. She graduated from Palo Alto University with a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. She completed her undergraduate degree at San Jose State University earning her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a minor in Child and Adolescent Development.

Josi has been working therapeutically with children and teens for 3 years through the public school system. She is trained in suicide awareness, prevention, and postvention, bullying recognition and response, and is open to learning as much as possible in various other subjects.

Josi works specializes in teen depression and anxiety and is also able to work effectively with a variety of issues including: abuse, low self-esteem, self-injuring behaviors, family problems, grief and loss, and phase of life issues. Josi is passionate in her work with children and teens and is grateful for the opportunity to support them and their families through difficult life stressors.

Josi’s therapeutic style is integrative. She draws heavily from Person-Centered Therapy, Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. She loves working with people to help them realize their potential for growth, healing, and happiness.

Josi has worked for Oak Grove School District and Santa Clara Unified School District. She hopes to move forward with private practice so she can continue with doing what she loves.

In her free time, Josi enjoys reading and art. She loves spending time with her boyfriend and their cat, Purrceus.
